Pupil Premium

Free School Meals

Parents in receipt of certain benefits may be entitled to Free School Meals for their children, this may also lead to additional funding for the school titled Pupil Premium.  We will ensure that each child who is eligible for free school meals receive a meal which is filling and nutritionally balanced. Research has shown that productivity and attainment can be improved when children eat balanced meals.   If your child is in Reception, or years 1 and 2,  they automatically qualify for Free School Meals under the universal scheme. However, if you meet the qualifying criteria for Free School Meals, this could raise extra funding for your child’s school. It is therefore important to complete the application form to ensure the school receives as much funding as possible. Please contact the school office on 01384 686717 for support on how to apply.

Pupil Premium

At Rufford Primary School, we strive to ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all of our pupils. Where appropriate, additional provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups, this includes ensuring that the needs of socially disadvantaged pupils are adequately assessed and addressed.

In making provision for socially disadvantaged pupils, we recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged. We also recognise that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for free school meals. We therefore allocate the Pupil Premium funding to support any pupil or groups of pupils the school has legitimately identified as being socially disadvantaged.

Pupil premium funding will be allocated following a needs analysis which will identify priority classes, groups or individuals. Limited funding and resources mean that not all children receiving free school meals will be in receipt of pupil premium interventions at any one time.

All schools are required to report on the amount of funding received and how this is being used. Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However, they will be held accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support pupils

Please read the information below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
